Welcome Pomeroy Family!

This blog is meant to be sort of an online Book of Remembrance or "small plates" for our family. You will find on this site, a family pedigree, family documents, family photos, testimonies and information about how to contribute to the continuing effort of finding our kindred dead. It can additionally be used to organize and communicate important events and messages, share gospel experiences, and just generally keep in touch with each other. Enjoy!

Grandpa and Grandma Osborn. They were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple 24 December 1941 and are the parents of six children.

Grandma Osborn. I thought this picture was really funny.

Dad's Family Pictures

James Neils Skousen. Grandma Pomeroy's Grandfather on her Father's side. His real name was Jens. (Ha!) I guess he must have changed it after immigrating to the US from Denmark. (b. 30 September 1828, d. 21 Oct. 1912)

Sidsel Marie Pederson. Wife of James Neils Skousen and namesake of Grandma Pomeroy. (b.23 Aug 1826, d. 10 Feb. 1899)

James Neils Skousen and his two wives, Sidsel (seated next to him) and Anna. James and Sidsel were married in the old country, May 1855. Anna Kirstine Jorgensen Hansen was born on 9 Jan 1845 and died on 21 Sept. She and James were married 1 Jan 1870.

This is the passanger list of the boat on which James and Sidsel and their children took passage to America. James, Sidsel and two of their children and located 11th from the top of the list.

James Neils Skousen Jr. Grandma Pomeroy's father. He also had two wives, Ida Walser and Emma Feredrika Mortinsen. Grandma's mother was Ida Walser.

I haven't been able to find any pictures of her yet, but here at least is the gravestone of Grandma Pomeroy's mother Ida.

How to Access Records Online

The Church has a TON of information about our family on their online websites (see links on right hand of webpage). In order to access all the information you need to get your membership record number from your ward clerk and create a personal account. New Family Search offers a tutorial on how to use the site after you create an account. In the meantime, you can use my account info to access our records. Username: hpomeroy Password: bee63088

Family Generated Records

I've been taking a family history class this past semester and as part of the in-class work, have been able to record up to 6 generations of our direct ancestors on a program called paf (personal ancestral file, downloadable at familysearch.org). Here are links to the third, fourth, fifth and sixth generations. (The first and second generations are still living). There is also a link to all the records I've created on the right hand side of the screen called Family Generated Records.
